- Sengottai recorded 111 mm.
- Tenkasi Town saw 110 mm.
- Other significant numbers included Thevarkulam (104 mm), Muneerpallam (103 mm), and Suthamalli (Tirunelveli) (92.4 mm).
- In Thoothukudi, Panambarai recorded 88.4 mm, while Cherakulam received 73.2 mm.
- Chennai also received notable rainfall in isolated pockets, with Tiruvottiyur recording 59.4 mm and Perambur 55.5 mm.
🧭 Current Atmospheric Status (November 19)
The weather system responsible for the intense rain yesterday has shifted. The low-pressure area (தாழ்வு பகுதி) that was situated near the Comorin Sea and Sri Lanka has moved westwards and is currently lingering near the Lakshadweep islands.
The overall structure of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and its associated trough extends from Sri Lanka straight across towards Indonesia. As a result, easterly winds (கிழக்கு திசை காற்று) are dominant over the Bay of Bengal, bringing humid air (ஈரதிசை காற்று).
On the Radar: Currently, radar images show rain clouds are widespread from Pondicherry down to Vedaranyam. Rain is actively falling in the coastal areas of Pondicherry and Cuddalore. Rain is also occurring in Thiruvarur district, with possibilities for moderate to heavy intensity.
📝 Today's Forecast (November 19, 2025)
While today is likely to see rain, the intense, large-scale heavy rain episodes experienced yesterday are expected to be slightly reduced.
Tamil Nadu & Puducherry:
- Coastal Regions: Moderate to heavy rain is expected to continue across coastal areas of Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Pondicherry, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Karaikal.
- Southern Tamil Nadu: Moderate to heavy rain is still expected in Theni, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts.
- Western Ghats & Hills: Heavy rain is also likely in the Nilgiris district and the western parts of Coimbatore.
- Inland Areas: Lighter to moderate rain is expected in many inland districts, including Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Dindigul, Madurai, Sivaganga, Thanjavur, and Trichy.
- Chennai: Chennai and its surrounding districts (Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram) may experience rain today, but it is expected to be light to moderate and intermittent.
Kerala:
Kerala will experience widespread moderate to heavy rain in districts like Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Kannur. Light to moderate rain is likely in Palakkad, Wayanad, and Kasaragod.
Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh:
Light rain is forecast for North inland Karnataka districts, including Bangalore, Mysore, and Kolar. Andhra Pradesh regions, including Tirupati, Nellore, and Chittoor, can expect light to moderate rain.
🚨 Looking Ahead: The Next System
Attention turns to the next weather development, which is expected to bring increased rainfall to the Cuddalore district starting tomorrow (November 20).
Crucially, within the next 48 hours (around November 21st), a new low-pressure area (குறைந்த காற்றெழுத்து தாழ் பகுதி) is expected to form. This system will emerge in the region between Indonesia and Sri Lanka. The development is attributed to a continued region of thermal convergence (வெப்ப குவிதல் பகுதி). This convergence is expected to generate a circulation that will deepen, potentially turning into an upper-air cyclonic circulation tomorrow, and eventually forming the low-pressure area by the 22nd.About for the Chakram Update still there is no much conses with the models as we need to wait for some time to conclude.

சுமார் **22ஆம் தேதி**, இந்தோனேசியா மற்றும் இலங்கைக்கு இடைப்பட்ட பகுதிகளில் **மீண்டும் ஒரு குறைந்த காற்றெழுத்து தாழ் பகுதி** ஆனது உருவாக இருக்கிறது. இதற்குக் காரணம், இந்த தாழி அமைப்பு மற்றும் **வெப்ப குவிதல் பகுதி** (Thermal Convergence Zone) தொடர்ந்து நீடிப்பதே ஆகும். இந்த வெப்ப குவிதல் பகுதியில் , நாளை ஒரு வளிமண்டல மேலெடுக்கு சுழற்சியாக உருவாகி , (22ஆம் தேதி) அது ஒரு குறைந்த காற்றெழுத்த தாழ் பகுதியாக அந்த பகுதிகளில் உருவாகி தமிழகத்தை நோக்கி இலங்கை ஊடக பயணிக்க இருக்கிறது.மேலும் மழை நிகழ்வுகள் தொடரும்.
