While the previous system, Cyclone Chennaiyar, has fully weakened into a low-pressure area and moved past the Malaysian region, our focus is now entirely on Cyclone Ditwah.

Cyclone Ditwah formed yesterday and maintained its position over the sea until 8:30 PM last night. Crucially, the system has since moved towards inland areas.
Its current interaction with land, particularly the mountainous regions of Sri Lanka, presents a challenge for weather models, which are currently showing some confusion about how much strength the system will maintain or regain. The system's movement across the challenging Sri Lankan landscape will determine how strongly it re-emerges.
However, there is good news: the cyclonic system is currently maintaining its structure and intensity. This strength is sustained because it is continuously drawing moist air from the Equatorial Waters. There is no influence from dry air currently affecting the system.
As of 5:45 AM today, satellite data confirms that the system is precisely located above Bottle Cola. Observation data also indicates that it is currently maintaining the intensity of a 35-knot cyclone.
Path and Timing Towards Tamil Nadu
Forecasters anticipate that Ditwah will return to the sea and move toward the Delta coastal areas within the next 24 to 32 hours (by this evening or night). When it moves into open water, where the sea surface temperature is higher (referred to as warm waters), we must observe closely whether the circulation strengthens and if its direction changes.
The system is expected to arrive at the Bay of Bengal boundaries near Tamil Nadu tonight.
High Alert in Sri Lanka
Given the system's movement over the island, the next 48 to 72 hours require extreme vigilance for residents of Sri Lanka.
For the next 24 hours:
- Moderate Rain: Expected in Bottle Cola, Ampara, Mannar, and Hambantota.
- Heavy Rain/Strong Rainfall: Expected in central and southern regions, including Polonnaruwa, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Matale, Kalutara, Galle, and Matara.
- Heavy Rainfall Potential: Strong rain is also expected to continue in Northern and Southeastern parts, such as Ratnapura, Eheliyagoda, Puttalam, Anuradhapuram, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, and Mannar.
Impact on Tamil Nadu: Rain Starts Today
Rainfall has already been reported in Tamil Nadu, particularly in the Ramanathapuram district, with significant readings in Pamban (12.4 cm) and Mandapam (9.2 cm). Light to moderate rain has also been recorded in parts of Tiruppur, Mayiladuthurai, Sirkazhi, and Cuddalore.
The intensity of rain is expected to increase starting today.

The rain is expected to intensify across the Delta and South Tamil Nadu.
- Heavy to Moderate rain is likely to begin this evening and night in areas including Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, the coastal areas of Thanjavur and Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Karaikal.
- The island regions surrounding Rameswaram may experience heavy rain, potentially accompanied by strong winds.
- Moderate rain, with heavy rain in some spots, is also forecast for Mayiladuthurai, Ariyalur, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Theni, Virudhunagar, and Tenkasi districts.
Other Districts
Many other districts—including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Villupuram, Puducherry, Salem, Namakkal, Trichy, Karur, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Erode, and Madurai—may see light to moderate rain accompanied by cloudiness and surface winds.

Regardless of the cyclone's exact path (whether it hits Delta coastal areas or moves inland), forecasters are confident about one thing: inland districts of the Delta and the Western districts can expect good rainfall starting tomorrow for the next two days.

இன்று நவம்பர் 28, 2025, கடலோரப் பகுதிகளைப் பொறுத்தவரை மிக முக்கியமான நாள் என்றே சொல்லலாம். முன்னர் உருவான **சென்னியார் புயல் (Cyclone Chennaiyar)** முழுவதுமாக வழுவிழந்து, ஒரு தாழ்வு பகுதியாக மாறி, மலேசியப் பகுதிகளைத் தாண்டிச் சென்று கொண்டிருக்கிறது.
இப்போது நமது கவனம் முழுவதும் **சைக்ளோன் தித்வா (Cyclone Ditwah)** மீதுதான் உள்ளது, இது நேற்று உருவானது.

தமிழகத்தில் மழை இன்று முதல் அதிகரிக்க வாய்ப்பு உள்ளது. ஏற்கெனவே, ராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்டத்தில் நல்ல மழை பதிவாகியுள்ளது. பாம்பனில் 12.4 செ.மீ, மண்டபத்தில் 9.2 செ.மீ மழை பதிவாகி உள்ளது. மேலும், திருப்பூர், மயிலாடுதுறை, சீர்காழி, கடலூர் மாவட்டங்களிலும் லேசானது முதல் மிதமான மழை பதிவாகி இருக்கிறது.

சென்னை, திருவள்ளூர், காஞ்சிபுரம், விழுப்புரம், பாண்டிச்சேரி, சேலம், நாமக்கல், திருச்சி, கரூர், திண்டுக்கல், திருப்பூர், ஈரோடு, மதுரை உள்ளிட்ட பல மாவட்டங்களில் மேகமூட்டத்துடன், தரைக்காற்றுடன் கூடிய **லேசான மழை அல்லது மிதமான மழை** பதிவாகுவதற்கான சாத்தியக்கூறுகள் இருக்கக்கூடும்.
### அடுத்த இரண்டு நாட்களுக்கான நம்பிக்கை
