Good morning! We bring you the latest weather analysis for November 7, 2025. While the atmospheric conditions are shifting, significant rainfall is expected today across parts of Tamil Nadu due to dynamic wind movements.
The Current Atmospheric Picture
Currently, a few systems are influencing the region, though they are not directly causing immediate impacts in our area.
- Typhoon Kalamagi: The Typhoon known as Kalamagi, which formed near the Philippines, has crossed the coast and weakened significantly. It is now moving as a well-marked low-pressure area from the Philippines towards Thailand.
- Andaman Disturbance: A weak area of disturbance or upper atmospheric circulation persists over the Andaman regions.
The immediate cause for the ongoing rainfall and uncertain weather pattern is wind direction variations originating from Central India. This causes atmospheric friction and uncertainty, leading to the occurrence of convective rain (Veppachana Mazhai).
This period is characteristic of a pre-monsoon state (pre-monsoon/North-East Puramalai) and is expected to continue for the next 24 hours until the stable eastern winds fully establish themselves around the 15th or 16th of November.
Looking Ahead: The Northeast Monsoon Intensifies
We anticipate the arrival of the eastern winds will gradually improve starting the 11th of November. These winds are expected to settle completely by the 15th and 16th, with a noticeable surge on the 17th.
Furthermore, attention is focused on the Bay of Bengal and Indonesian regions, where a circulation is expected to form and move towards Sri Lanka around the 20th, 21st, and 22nd. This development is predicted to mark the complete intensification of the Northeast Monsoon (வடகிழக்கு பெருகுமழை) starting November 20th.
Rainfall Highlights from the Past 24 Hours
The last 24 hours saw widespread heavy rainfall, particularly in the northern parts of Tamil Nadu. The highest recorded rainfall figures include:
- Thandalam (Kanchipuram): 175.6 mm
- Parandur (Kanchipuram): 142 mm
- Madhuramangalam (Kanchipuram): 105.6 mm
- Kottavakkam (Kanchipuram): 82.4 mm
- Jolarpettai: 74.8 mm
- Mappedu (Tiruvallur District): 74 mm
- Pudupadi (Ranipet): 73.6 mm
- Vimo Nagar (North Chennai): 70.2 mm
Rain was generally widespread across districts including Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, and Northern Chennai areas, as well as Thoothukudi.

Tamil Nadu & Puducherry
Heavy to Very Heavy Rain (Kanamazhai/Palatha Mazhai): Widespread rain, ranging from heavy to very heavy in isolated spots, is possible in several regions. This includes:
- Delta Districts: Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Karaikal, and Tiruvarur.
- Central & Southern Districts: Salem, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Dindigul, Madurai, Sivaganga, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, and Tenkasi.
- Specific Focus: We particularly anticipate a chance for heavy rain in some areas located between Salem, Namakkal, Karur, and Tiruchirappalli.
Light to Moderate Rain (Lesana/Mithamana Mazhai): Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Theni, Tiruppur, Erode, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, and Puducherry.
Chennai & Surrounding Districts: Light to moderate rain is also expected today in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Ranipet, and Vellore districts.
Other Southern States
- Kerala: Only Kollam district is expected to see moderate rain. Light rain/cloudy conditions are forecast for Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Palakkad. Northern districts will experience dry weather.
- Andhra Pradesh: Light to moderate rain is possible in Tirupati, Kalahasti, Nellore, Kavali, Prakasam, Bapatla, Guntur, Krishna, Godavari, Kakinada, and Eluru. This rain is also expected in Rayalaseema districts, including Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur, Kadapa, Sathya Sai, Annamayya, and Chittoor.
- Karnataka: Similar to yesterday’s heavy rainfall reported in Bangalore and Kolar, most districts have a chance for rain today.
- Telangana - Mostly a Dry day expected in the state including Hyderabad.

தமிழகத்தின் தென் பகுதிகளிலும், குறிப்பா வட கடலோரப் பகுதிகளிலும், மத்திய இந்தியப் பகுதிகளில் இருந்து வரக்கூடிய காற்று திசை வேறுபாடுகள் காணப்படுகின்றன. மத்திய தமிழகத்தில் (கிருஷ்ணகிரி, தர்மபுரி, சேலம் கிட்ட) வரும் பொழுது இந்த காற்றானது முற்றிலும் மாறுபட்ட கோணத்தில் வந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறது.
இந்த காற்றின் திசை வேறுபாடுகள் மற்றும் காற்றின் நிச்சயமற்ற தன்மை மற்றும் உராய்வு ஆகிய காரணங்களினால், அடுத்த 24 மணி நேரத்திற்கும் வெப்பச்சன மழை போன்ற மழையானது நீடிப்பதற்கான வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கின்றன. இந்த காலகட்டம் என்பது, வடகிழக்கு பருவமழை (Pre-Monsoon) தொடங்குவதற்கு முன்பு ஏற்படக்கூடிய கால நிலை மாதிரியான நிலைமைதான்.

- நாகர்கோவில், கன்னியாகுமரி, திருநெல்வேலி, தேனி, திருப்பூர், ஈரோடு, நீலகிரி, கோயம்புத்தூர் ஆகிய மாவட்டங்களில் லேசானது முதல் மிதமான மழைக்கு வாய்ப்பு உள்ளது.
- புதுக்கோட்டை, தஞ்சை, அரியலூர், பெரம்பலூர், கடலூர், கள்ளக்குறிச்சி, தர்மபுரி, கிருஷ்ணகிரி, திருப்பத்தூர், வேலூர், திருவண்ணாமலை, விழுப்புரம் மற்றும் பாண்டிச்சேரி ஆகிய மாவட்டங்களிலும் இதேபோல லேசானது முதல் மிதமான மழைக்கு வாய்ப்பு இருக்கும்.
சென்னை மற்றும் வட மாவட்டங்கள்:
- சென்னை, திருவள்ளூர், காஞ்சிபுரம், செங்கல்பட்டு, ராணிப்பேட்டை, வேலூர் ஆகிய மாவட்டங்களில் இன்றும் லேசானது முதல் மிதமான மழைக்கு வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கும் என்று நாம் எதிர்பார்க்கலாம்.
மற்ற தென் மாநிலங்கள்
- கேரளா: கொல்லம் மாவட்டத்தில் மட்டும் ஓரளவுக்கு மிதமான மழை இருக்கும். திருவனந்தபுரம், பத்தினம்திட்டா, இடுக்கி, கோட்டயம், ஆலப்புழா, எர்ணாகுளம், திருசூர், பாலக்கடம் ஆகிய மாவட்டங்களில் மேகமூட்டத்துடன் ஒரு சில பகுதிகளில் லேசான மழை இருக்கும். மற்ற வட மாவட்டங்களில் வரண்ட வானிலை நிலவும்.
- ஆந்திர பிரதேசம்: திருப்பதி, காளகஸ்தி, நெல்லூர், காவாலி, பிரகாசம், பாப்பட்லா, குண்டூர், கிருஷ்ணா, கோதாவரி, காக்கிநாடா, ஏலூர் ஆகிய பகுதிகளிலும், ராயல் சீமா மாவட்டங்களான கர்ணூல், நந்தியால், அனந்தபூர், கடப்பா, சத்தியசாய், அன்னமையா, சித்தூர் ஆகிய மாவட்டங்களிலும் லேசானது முதல் மிதமான மழைக்கான வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கின்றன.
- கர்நாடகா: பெங்களூர், கோளார் மாவட்டங்களில் நேற்று பலத்த மழை பதிவானது போல, இன்று பெரும்பாலான மாவட்டங்களில் மழை இருப்பதற்கான வாய்ப்பு இருக்கிறது.
