Weather Alert: January Rains Recede as Dry Winds and Mist Take Over

The current rainy episode of January 2026 is officially coming to an end across Tamil Nadu. Starting today, January 26, dry winds moving from Central India will begin traveling through the state, replacing the previous moisture-heavy systems. By tonight or tomorrow morning, these dry conditions are expected to fully occupy the region, leading to a significant decrease in rainfall and the return of misty or foggy conditions.

While the rain is tapering off, some areas will still experience precipitation over the next 24 hours before the dry air completely takes hold.

The Shift to Dry Weather

The atmospheric circulation that was present in the Comorin Sea area has completely weakened and disappeared. As a result, the weather pattern is shifting:

• Chennai and Suburbs: Light rain may persist until approximately 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM (the forenoon period), after which the rain will completely disappear.
• Delta Districts: Rainfall is expected to fully exit these areas following this evening or tonight.
• Interior Districts: Residents should prepare to see the effects of morning fog and mist starting from tomorrow morning.

Looking Ahead: February Outlook

The rainy "episode" for January is considered finished. Looking forward into February 2026, early indications suggest that the chances for rain will be very low. The region is expected to experience primarily dry weather throughout the coming month.

Due to this transition into a dry spell, weather updates will move to a weekly schedule until the next significant rain event develops.

மழை படிப்படியாகக் குறையத் தொடங்கினாலும், அடுத்த 24 மணி நேரத்தில் ஒரு சில இடங்களில் மழைக்கு வாய்ப்புள்ளது:

மிதமான மழை** | தென் தமிழகம் & மலைப்பகுதிகள் | சிவகங்கை, திருநெல்வேலி, தென்காசி, விருதுநகரின் மேற்குப் பகுதி, தேனி, கொடைக்கானல், வால்பாறை மற்றும் நீலகிரி.

லேசான மழை** | கடலோர மாவட்டங்கள் | சென்னை, திருவள்ளூர், காஞ்சிபுரம், செங்கல்பட்டு, கடலூர், மயிலாடுதுறை, நாகை மற்றும் திருவாரூர். 

மேகமூட்டம் / லேசான சாரல்** | உள் மாவட்டங்கள் | ராணிப்பேட்டை, வேலூர், திருவண்ணாமலை, சேலம், ஈரோடு மற்றும் கோவை. |

முக்கிய மாற்றங்கள் மற்றும் நேரங்கள்

சென்னை மற்றும் புறநகர்:** இன்று முற்பகல் வரை மட்டுமே லேசான மழைக்கு வாய்ப்புள்ளது, அதன் பிறகு மழை முற்றிலும் விலகிவிடும்.

டெல்டா மாவட்டங்கள்:** இன்று மாலை அல்லது இரவுக்குப் பிறகு மழை முற்றிலும் நின்றுவிடும்.

மூடுபனி:** நாளை (ஜனவரி 27) காலை முதல் தமிழகத்தின் உட்புற மாவட்டங்களில் மீண்டும் **மூடுபனியின் தாக்கம்** அதிகமாக இருக்கும்.

 பிப்ரவரி மாத வானிலை எப்படி இருக்கும்?

குமரிக்கடல் பகுதியில் இருந்த வளிமண்டல மேலடுக்கு சுழற்சி தற்போது முற்றிலும் மறைந்துவிட்டது. இதனால் வரும் **பிப்ரவரி மாதத்தில் மழைக்கான வாய்ப்புகள் மிக மிகக் குறைவாகவே** இருக்கும். பெரும்பாலும் வரண்ட வானிலையே (Dry Weather) தொடரும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

Youtube  - மழை நிகழ்வுகள் இல்லாத காரணத்தால், இனி வாரத்திற்கு ஒருமுறை மட்டுமே வானிலை அறிக்கைகள் வெளியாகும்; மீண்டும் மழைக்கான அறிகுறிகள் தென்படும்போது தினசரி அப்டேட்கள் தொடரும்.
