Weather Update, November 5, 2025: Widespread Convectional Rain Forecasted for South India
Welcome back to the Rainman Studio analysis! This is Venkatesh MS Rainman, offering a personal weather assessment for November 5, 2025. For official forecasts and advisories, please rely on the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and government-issued instructions.
Based on our current analysis, true and comprehensive weather information is expected today across many parts of South India, driven primarily by convective activity.
The Atmospheric Dynamics Behind Today's Rain
The weather system we have been tracking has evolved. The low-pressure area previously near Myanmar has intensified and is now a well-marked low-pressure area situated over regions adjacent to West Bengal and Bangladesh. This system is anticipated to move toward the Northeast states due to westerly circulation, moving generally in an East-Northeast direction.
Crucially, the conditions locally are highly conducive to rainfall, specifically convectional rain (வெப்பச்சலன மழை).
- Westerly Circulation: Westerly circulation is noted at 5500 feet.
- Wind Convergence: At the lower altitude of 1500 feet (approximately 850 hPa), there is a convergence (சங்கமிப்பு) of winds from two different directions.
- Friction and Uncertainty: This confluence leads to wind uncertainty (காற்று நிச்சயமற்ற தன்மை) and friction (உராய்வு) between the air layers. This friction, particularly the vertical movement of air, is the mechanism creating the widespread convectional rain expected today.
Due to these dynamics, daytime temperatures are expected to be 2 to 5 degrees Celsius higher than normal, preceding the onset of convectional rain which is likely to occur after the afternoon (பிற்பகலுக்கு பிறகாக).
Regional Rainfall Forecasts (Next 24 Hours)
Today's convective rain, which had been confined to North Tamil Nadu for the last two days, is now expected to extend across regions in South Tamil Nadu as well.
Tamil Nadu and Puducherry
We expect widespread convectional rain across most parts of Tamil Nadu today.
Widespread Moderate to Heavy Rain (Thunderstorms): A high likelihood of moderate to heavy rain, potentially accompanied by thunder and lightning (இடியுடன் கூடிய), exists in a significant number of districts:
- Northern Interior Districts: Ranipettai, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, and Kallakurichi.
- Delta and Coastal Districts: Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Karaikal, Tiruvarur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thanjavur, and Pudukkottai.
- Western/Central Districts: Nilgiris, Erode, Tiruppur, Namakkal, Karur, Madurai, Dindigul, Sivaganga, and Ramanathapuram.
Moderate Rain: Areas in the Chennai Metropolitan region, including Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu, have chances of moderate rain.
Light to Moderate Rain: Lighter rainfall is forecast for districts in the South, such as Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, Theni, and Coimbatore.
It is worth noting that rain was recorded yesterday in Chennai and its suburbs, as well as in Madurai. This pattern is expected to become widespread today.
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
In Andhra Pradesh, widespread moderate to heavy rain is forecast for the Rayalaseema districts, including Kadapa, Nandyal, Kurnool, Anantapur, Satyasaai, Annamayya, and Chittoor. Nellore district is also expected to see rainfall in some parts. Moderate rain is likely in certain areas of Tirupati. Other central and North Andhra regions may see light rain in a few places.
Telangana, including Hyderabad, is expected to see scattered light or moderate rainfall.
Karnataka
Moderate to heavy rain is expected in KGF, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Bengaluru, Ramanagara, Mandya, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagar. Other interior districts should prepare for light to moderate rain.
Kerala
Most districts in Kerala are expected to experience light rain. However, moderate to heavy rain is likely in specific areas, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, western parts of Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

பகல் நேரங்களில் வெப்பநிலை இயல்பை விட 2 முதல் 5 டிகிரி வரை கூடுதலாய் இருக்கும். இந்தப் பரவலான வெப்பச்சலன மழையானது பிற்பகலுக்குப் பிறகாக (Afternoon) நாம் பார்ப்பதற்கான வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கின்றன.
அடுத்த 24 மணி நேரத்திற்கான மாநில வாரியான மழை வாய்ப்பு
கடந்த இரண்டு நாட்களாக வட தமிழகத்தில் மட்டுமே பதிவாகி வந்த மழை, இன்று தென் தமிழகப் பகுதிகளுக்கும் பரவுவதற்கான வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கின்றன. நேற்று சென்னை மற்றும் புறநகரப் பகுதிகள் மற்றும் மதுரையில் பதிவான மழை, இன்று பரவலாக இருப்பதற்கான வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கிறது.
தமிழகம் மற்றும் புதுச்சேரி
இன்று தமிழகத்தின் பெரும்பாலான பகுதிகளில் நாம் வெப்பச்சலன மழையை எதிர்பார்க்கலாம்.
பரவலான இடியுடன் கூடிய மிதமானது முதல் கனமழைக்கான வாய்ப்பு: பின்வரும் மாவட்டங்களில் இடியுடன் கூடிய மிதமான மழை முதல் கனமழை வரையில் பதிவாவதற்கான பிரகாசமான வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கின்றன:

- டெல்டா மற்றும் தென் கடலோர மாவட்டங்கள்: கடலூர், நாகை, காரைக்கால், மயிலாடுதுறை, திருவாரூர், அரியலூர், தஞ்சை, புதுக்கோட்டை.
- மத்திய மாவட்டங்கள்: நாமக்கல், கரூர், மதுரை, திண்டுக்கல், சிவகங்கை, ராமநாதபுரம்.
மிதமான மழைக்கான வாய்ப்பு: சென்னை, திருவள்ளூர், காஞ்சிபுரம், செங்கல்பட்டு ஆகிய பகுதிகளில் மிதமான மழைக்கான வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கக்கூடும்.
லேசானது முதல் மிதமான மழைக்கான வாய்ப்பு: தென் மாவட்டங்களான கன்னியாகுமரி, திருநெல்வேலி, தென்காசி, விருதுநகர், தூத்துக்குடி, தேனி மற்றும் கோவை மாவட்டங்களில் லேசான முதல் மிதமான மழை எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
ஆந்திரப் பிரதேசம்
- ராயல்சீமா மாவட்டங்கள் (கடப்பா, நந்தியால், கரநூல், அனந்த்பூர், சத்தியசாய், அன்னமையார், சித்தூர்) ஆகிய பகுதிகளில் பரவலாக மிதமானது முதல் கனமழைக்கான வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கின்றன.
- நெல்லூர் மாவட்டத்தில் ஒரு சில பகுதிகளிலும், திருப்பதியில் ஒரு சில பகுதிகளில் மிதமான மழைக்கான வாய்ப்புகளும் உள்ளன.
- மத்திய மற்றும் வடாந்திர பகுதிகளில் ஒரு சில இடங்களில் லேசான மழைக்கான வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கின்றன.
கர்நாடகா
கேஜிஎப், கோலார், சிக்பலாபூர், பெங்களூர், ராம்நகரா, மாண்டியா, மைசூர், சாமராஜ நகரா ஆகிய பகுதிகளில் மிதமானது முதல் கனமழைக்கான வாய்ப்புகளும், மற்ற உள் மாவட்டங்களில் லேசான முதல் மிதமான மழைக்கான வாய்ப்புகளும் இருக்கக்கூடும்.
கேரளா மற்றும் தெலுங்கானா
- கேரளாவில் திருவனந்தபுரம், கொல்லம், பத்தினா, அலப்பி, கோட்டையம், இடுக்கி, எர்ணாகுளம், திருசூர், பாலக்காடு, மலப்புரத்தின் மேற்கு பகுதிகள், கோழிக்கோடு, வயநாடு, கண்ணூர், காசர்கோடு மாவட்டங்கள் உட்பட பெரும்பாலான பகுதிகளில் லேசான மழையும், நான் குறிப்பிட்ட ஐந்து ஆறு மாவட்டங்களில் பரவலாக மிதமானது முதல் கனமழையும் இருக்கலாம்.
- தெலுங்கானாவில், ஹைதராபாத் உட்பட, பரவலாக ஒரு சில பகுதிகளில் லேசான அல்லது மிதமான மழைக்கான வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கக்கூடும்.
