Good morning! Today, we dive into the latest weather analysis for Tamil Nadu and surrounding regions, focusing on a significant weather system that is set to bring widespread heavy rain over the next five to six days.
The System: Upper Air Circulation and Easterly Winds
The main cause for the incoming precipitation is an Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation (UAC), described as a "Broad Circulation," currently situated to the southeast of Sri Lanka.
Crucially, the recent disappearance of Typhoon Fungwong (பங்குவாங் புயல்) has paved the way for Easterly winds (கிழக்கத்திய காற்று), which are now arriving from the South China Sea. This influx, combined with the UAC drawing in moisture over the Bay of Bengal and supported by the Equatorial Trough, has led to the formation of dense rain clouds.
We can observe these dense convective clouds located in the Southwest Bay of Bengal, adjacent to the coast of Tamil Nadu. This interaction of winds and moisture is expected to cause significant convergence (காற்றின் கன்வெர்ஜென்ஸ்) over the Delta regions today.
Short-Term Forecast: 5 to 6 Days of Intense Rain
This current weather system is projected to bring rain to Tamil Nadu until approximately the 20th or 21st of November.Detailed Post of the Expected Rains Maps will be shared today evening in the Blog.
The outlook for the next five to six days includes heavy rain in many areas, including interior parts of Tamil Nadu.
- Coastal Focus: Heavy rain is likely in the Delta districts from today until the 20th. Similarly, the Northern Coastal districts, including Chennai, have chances for heavy rain starting from the 17th until the 20th.
- Today's Rain (Nov 15): Moderate to heavy rain is forecast for Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, and Tenkasi districts. Widespread moderate to heavy rain is expected in areas like Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Karaikal, and Tiruvarur districts. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in some coastal parts of the Nagapattinam district.
- Interior Spread: While coastal areas are primarily affected today, the rain's impact is expected to gradually spread to the interior districts starting tomorrow (November 16). This is because the Easterly winds are anticipated to begin moving entirely from the coastal districts towards the interior regions from tomorrow.
- Neighboring States: Kerala is experiencing moderate to heavy rain today, particularly in districts like Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Idukki, and Ernakulam. Rain in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh is expected to start from tomorrow.
Safety Warnings and Precautions
Due to the possibility of heavy rain, residents, especially farmers and those living in low-lying areas, must exercise heightened caution.
Furthermore, as the dense convection is expected to move towards the coastal districts, it is strongly advised that fishermen avoid going out to sea for the next three to five days & Follow IMD and State Govt Instructions.

In the past 24 hours, significant rainfall was recorded across several districts. Good rain was observed in parts of the Western districts (Tiruppur and Coimbatore) and Southern districts (Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Kanyakumari).
Notable rainfall amounts recorded include:
- Tiruchendur: 63.6 millimeters (mm)
- Naduvakurichi (Thoothukudi): 50 mm
- Seyyanmalai (Tirunelveli): 50 mm

### **தற்போதைய வான்வெளி அமைப்பு (UAC)**
தற்போது வங்கக்கடலில் ஏற்பட்டுள்ள வானிலை மாற்றங்களுக்கு முக்கியக் காரணம், இலங்கைக்கு **தென்கிழக்காக** நிலை கொண்டுள்ள **உயர் வளிமண்டல மேலெடுக்கு சுழற்சி (UAC)** ஆகும். இது ஒரு **"பிராட் சர்குலேஷன்"** என குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறது.

* சென்னை, திருவள்ளூர் உள்ளிட்ட வட கடலோர மாவட்டங்களிலும் இன்று லேசானது முதல் மிதமான மழை ஒரு சில பகுதிகளில் பதிவாகலாம்.

* **கேரளா & ஆந்திரா:** கேரளாவில் திருவனந்தபுரம், கொல்லம் போன்ற மேற்கு பகுதிகளில் மிதமானது முதல் கனமழை இன்று பதிவாகும். கர்நாடகா மற்றும் ஆந்திர பிரதேசத்துக்கு **நாளை முதல்** மழை ஸ்டார்ட் ஆகும்.
### **கடந்த 24 மணி நேர மழை நிலவரம்**
கடந்த 24 மணி நேரத்தில் தென் தமிழகத்தில் திருநெல்வேலி, தென்காசி, தூத்துக்குடி மற்றும் குமரி மாவட்டங்களில் நல்ல மழை பதிவாகி இருக்கிறது.
