Today's Key Weather Information (September 19, 2025):
Today's weather update brings several new and important details. The key points we need to pay attention to are:
• The atmospheric upper air cyclonic circulation that was previously over Marathwada (interior Maharashtra) has now completely dissipated.
• An atmospheric upper air cyclonic circulation is present from Telangana to Rayalaseema.
Movement of Atmospheric Systems:
Several atmospheric upper air cyclonic circulations have shifted through Tamil Nadu towards Andhra Pradesh, along the East-West Shear Zone. Meanwhile, the atmospheric upper air cyclonic circulation located over Myanmar is expected to move inland over the next couple of days, entering the northwest Bay of Bengal. It is anticipated to strengthen into a well-marked Low Pressure Area and then into a Depression, moving slowly. During this period, the East-West Shear Zone will return to central Indian regions, transforming into a trough, and bringing the Low Pressure Area and the Southwest Monsoon to the western coastal areas. This pattern is typical for a break period in the monsoon.
Recent Rainfall Activity:
Due to these systems, widespread heavy rainfall has been recorded in Tamil Nadu over the past three days. Notably, yesterday, heavy to very heavy rain was reported in northern interior Tamil Nadu, specifically in Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, and Vellore districts. Tirupattur alone recorded up to 20 cm of rainfall. We continue to post rainfall updates and details on our Facebook page.
