தை மாதம் நாளை பிறக்கிறது, தை மாதத்தில் இருந்து உத்ராயண புண்ய காலம் தொடங்குகிறது. தை பிறந்தால் வழி பிறக்கும் என்பார்கள் அதற்கான காரணம் தெரியுமா?
'உத்தர்' என்றால் வடமொழியில் வடக்கு என்றும் 'அயனம்' என்றால் வழி என்றும் பொருளாகும். சூரியன் தென்திசையிலிருந்து வடதிசை நோக்கி பயணம் செய்யும் காலமே உத்தராயணம் எனப்படும். தை, மாசி,பங்குனி, சித்திரை, வைகாசி, ஆனி ஆகிய ஆறு மாதங்களும் உத்தராயண காலமாகும்.இந்த காலத்தில் சூரியனை வழிபடுவதற்காக கொண்டாடும் நாளையே நாம் பொங்கல் என்று கொண்டாடுகிறோம்.
