DITWAH Update: Weakening System Brings Rain Across Tamilnadu Andhra & Neighbor States(November 30, 2025 Weather Analysis)
Good Morning! Welcome back to our weather analysis. Today's forecast, dated November 30, 2025, focuses heavily on the status and trajectory of the system that previously affected the region.
The Weakening Phase
A crucial development has caused this system to weaken significantly: vertical shear, or the effect of dry air. This dry air prevented the formation of large rain clouds on the northwest side, meaning Northern Tamil Nadu did not receive the expected heavy rainfall.
The circulation is now weakened and stationed as a Deep Depression Near Cuddalore.
- Location: 245 kilometers southeast of Chennai.
- Location: 145 kilometers southeast of Pondicherry.
- Coordinates: Currently centered at 10.8 degrees North latitude and 88.8 degrees longitude.
Based on ADT values (pressure details derived from international satellite models), the system has weakened to a deep depression, with the structure maintaining approximately 25 knots. However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) is reportedly still maintaining it under the cyclone category at 30 knots.
Satellite images taken around 6 AM show that the system is fully trapped in dry air (visible as a gray color near Pondicherry). The associated rain clouds are primarily confined to the northwesterly direction.
Rainfall Tally: Delta Districts Bear the Brunt
Before weakening, the system delivered substantial rainfall across the southern regions.
The Delta districts experienced widespread heavy rain. Good rain was also recorded in Southern Tamil Nadu districts like Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram. Specific areas like Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Karaikal received beneficial rainfall.
Key Rainfall Recordings (in mm):
- Thiruvengadu (Mayiladuthurai District): 220 mm (22 cm).
- Neduvasal: 159 mm.
- Thirukkapuram (Nagapattinam): 154 mm.
- Tharangambadi (Mayiladuthurai): 145 mm.
- Nagapattinam Town: 137 mm.
- Ramanathapuram Pollur: 134 mm.
In Chennai, areas around 800 recorded 55 mm of rain, but most urban areas only received between 30 and 40 mm, falling short of the highly anticipated 50 to 70 mm mark.

The ECMWF model suggests that some rain clouds might approach Chennai later this afternoon. Based on the current movement and location, here are the expected rainfall patterns for the next 24 hours:
Andhra Pradesh
Since the rain clouds are moving in the northwest direction, Andhra Pradesh is expected to see significant rainfall.
- Heavy to Very Heavy Rain: Bapatla, Nellore, Kavali, and the Andhra coastal districts adjacent to Chennai and Cuddalore.
- Heavy Rain: Interior districts including Prakasam, Tirupati, Annamayya, Chittoor, Kadapa, and Sathya Sai.
- Moderate to Heavy Rain: Nandyal, Kurnool, Anantapur, Vijayawada, and the northern districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry
A convergence phase suggests continuous rainfall potential:
- Moderate to Heavy Rain: Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Karaikal, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, and Pondicherry districts.
- There is a possibility of Heavy to Very Heavy Rain in certain parts of Perambalur and Ariyalur before the evening or night.
- Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu: Light to moderate rain will continue intermittently, with a possible "spell" in the afternoon. Chennai city areas are expected to receive between 30 to 40 mm, with a maximum potential of 50 mm.
- Isolated Heavy Rain: Possible in areas of Tiruvallur bordering Andhra, parts of Vellore, areas adjacent to Chittoor, and some areas in Tiruvannamalai.
Other Regions
- Kerala: Widespread light to moderate rain.
- Karnataka: Moderate to heavy rain expected in Bengaluru, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, Mandya, Mysuru, and Chitradurga districts.
- Telangana: Moderate to heavy rain possible in Hyderabad, Kothagudem, and Miryalaguda.
What Happens Next? The Path to Dissipation
Importantly, this system is not expected to cross the coast. It is predicted to largely remain parallel to the Tamil Nadu coast and stay over the sea.
The system is anticipated to travel towards the coastal districts bordering Andhra Pradesh. The Vertical Shear (dry wind ) moving from the Tamilnadu region will completely reach this area, causing the circulation to fully dissipate in the sea over the next two days.
After this system completely moves away, future rainfall in Tamil Nadu is expected due to Easterly winds (கிழக்கு திசை காற்று). This Eastern wind activity is expected to bring rain to all coastal districts until approximately December 5th or 6th. The remainder of December is expected to see intermittent rain spells.

* பாபட்லா, நெல்லூர், காவாலி மற்றும் சென்னையை ஒட்டிய கடலோர மாவட்டங்களில் **கனமழை முதல் மிக கனமழை** பதிவாகும்.
* உட்புற மாவட்டங்களான பிரகாசம், திருப்பதி, அன்னமையா, சித்தூர், கடப்பா, சத்தியசாய் மாவட்டங்களல் கனமழை இருப்பதற்கு வாய்ப்பு உள்ளது.
* நந்தியால், கரனூல், அனந்த்பூர், விஜயவாடா மற்றும் வட மாவட்டங்களிலும் மிதமானது முதல் கனமழை பதிவாக சாத்தியக்கூறுகள் பிரகாசமாக இருக்கின்றன.
#### கர்நாடகா, கேரளா, தெலுங்கானா
* **கர்நாடகா:** பெங்களூரு, சிக்பள்ளா தும்கூர், மாண்டியா, மைசூர், சித்திரதுர்கா மாவட்டங்களில் மிதமானது முதல் கனமழை எதிர்பார்க்கலாம்.
* **கேரளா:** பரவலாக லேசானது முதல் மிதமான மழை பதிவாகும்.
* **தெலுங்கானா:** ஹைதராபாத், கொத்தகுடையம், மெரியால்குடா பகுதிகளில் மிதமானது முதல் கனமழை பதிவாக வாய்ப்புகள் இன்று இருக்கும்.

இந்த நிலையில், சென்னை இந்த பகுதிகளில் இருந்து வரும் வரண்ட காற்று முழுவதுமாக செல்லும் போது, அந்த சலனம் முற்றிலுமா அங்கேயே **கடலிலேயே மறைவதற்கு** வாய்ப்புகள் உண்டு. இது அடுத்த இரண்டு நாட்கள் இந்த நகர்வில் இருக்கும்.
**அடுத்தடுத்த மழை:**
